Cure SMA is dedicated to the treatment and cure of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), the number one genetic cause of death for infants. We fund groundbreaking research and provide families the support they need for today.
Supporting Our Communities
The Supporting Our Communities initiative will offer two grant opportunities in 2017 for approximately 40 nonprofit organizations. Each organization will receive up to $5,000. In the previous four years, cash grants and consulting services valued at approximately $2.5 million have been distributed to nonprofits in our service area.
Organizational & Fundraising Capacity Grant – approximately 20 nonprofit organizations will receive a cash grant combined with our in-kind consulting services for strengthening their organizational and fundraising capacity.
Community Development Grant – approximately 20 nonprofit organizations will receive a cash grant to support their programs and services that benefit low- or moderate-income individuals and communities.
To be considered for grant funding, nonprofit organizations must meet the following criteria:
- – Have a nonprofit, tax-exempt classification under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- – Be located or provide service in First Foundation’s market(s) – State of California: Orange County, Los Angeles County, Pasadena, Coachella Valley, Imperial Valley, San Diego County, and San Francisco Bay Area; and Honolulu, Hawaii and Las Vegas, Nevada.
- – Demonstrate fiscal and administrative stability.
We are looking to work collaboratively with worthy causes to help them grow and sustain their growth. Assisting with fundraising, donor cultivation, board building, development of critical policies and protocols, organizational planning and best practices in cash management and investment policies, procedures and strategies. In addition, we are looking for opportunities to support programs and services focused on low-to-moderate income individuals and communities.
